While employed by the CD Group, Duane provided extensive information technology support to Rollins Inc. during the period of March 1998 to February 1999. During this time frame, Duane designed both Local Area Network and Wide Area Network architectures to support over 400 sites nationwide. Included within the design was Internet access down to the desktop computer level as well as the installation and configuration of the Checkpoint Firewall-1 network security system to protect against Internet hackers. He also developed detailed product specifications to support the hardware and software purchases for the network. Throughout the network upgrade project, Duane provided on-site implementation and troubleshooting support to keep the project momentum and provide education to the in-house network engineers.

The end results of Duane's efforts has been a more efficient and effective network that supports current requirements and anticipated growth. The network is many times faster than its predecessor and it provides virtually seamless access from the desktop computer to the corporate AS/400 computers, the Internet and other data sources. Through his direct approach, listening to the customer functional requirements, and his outstanding technical knowledge, Duane enabled the corporation to move forward with its strategic business initiatives.

I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how pleased I am with the service your company has provided to MCI WorldCom. As you are aware, the state of the customer network we inherited was grim. In 1995, The Department of Pathology needed contract assistance in upgrading its Novell server and operating system and several desktop units to support a critical clinical application within our complex, diverse enterprise environment. Inacom sent Duane to us as their "best man for the job."

In the course of our upgrade, Duane made several pivotal recommendations which not only facilitated a trouble free hardware and NOS conversion with minimum downtime, but also positioned us to better integrate our new server with the network at Emory while at the same time protecting and enhancing some crucial legacy functionality in the department. He proved to be fluent in all aspects of network and server configuration and architecture as well as wizard when it came to creating and installing a state-of-the-art workstation image. He worked quickly, efficiently and dependably to bring our server environment into specification, and stood solidly behind his work. He documented his work thoroughly and engaged in extensive knowledge transfer that enabled the Pathology IS staff to understand and support his work long after he had finished.

Duane was very conscientious, extremely knowledgeable and thoroughly committed to our satisfaction.
