INFRASTRUCTURE

Your Network Infrastructure is the "circulatory" system of your data/voice network. Issues with any portion of this “digital highway” can detrimentally affect business operations, particularly when adding voice traffic. This area is vital to the overall success in any project in which we are engaged.

Cabling
At the most basic level of infrastructure CPS can rapidly identify cabling issues that are causing performance issues for users. CPS is not a cabling vendor or installer; however, we work closely with reliable local partners that can assist us in ensuring that identified issues are corrected quickly and efficiently.

Switching (Local Area Networks)
Network switches provide the connectivity to workstations and servers. In turn, switches have evolved from providing "point to multi-point" connectivity, but in many cases can be used as routing devices. Even more advanced switching devices are now application aware. Overall, the ordinary switch has evolved into a complex interaction of multiple communications layers that condense, augment and enhance workstation/server connectivity. CPS has extensive experience with both Cisco Systems and HP ProCurve products, within the following areas:

  • VLAN (Virtual LAN) tagging, switching and routing
  • Class of Service (Differentiated Services, i.e. Voice over IP)
  • Distributed Switching Architectures (Core/Edge)
  • Routing

CPS has extensive experience with the following switches:

  • Cisco Systems Catalyst Series: 2900, 3500, 4000, 5500, 6500.
  • HP ProCurve Series: V19xx, E26xx, A51xx, E3800, E4800G, E5500G, E62xx, A58xx, E4200vl, E5400zl, A10500.

Routing (Wide Area Networks)
Routers are and have been a significant aspect of any network. A firm’s connection to the Internet is probably the most obvious example for the average person. As routers and switches have slowly been merged into multi-functional units, there are many cases in which standalone routers are the most viable solution for medium sized businesses. Typically these situations arise due to redundancy, routing protocols or constraints associated with the significant cost of newer switches with multi-protocol routing capabilities. CPS implements and supports Cisco Systems platforms in these situations. Our experience covers the following routing protocols:

  • IGRP
  • EIGRP
  • OSPF
  • BGP (limited to management networks)

Wireless
Most organizations have reached a point where personnel need the flexibility of not being bound to a wired connection to access network resources. While wireless networks are common in offices today, it is surprising how many have been installed and configured without security. . Additionally, CPS has been involved in several projects aiding customer's in remediation or replacent of their wireless networks. Our wireless solutions utilize HPE Aruba's wireless devices that offer highly available solutions that include multiple communication channels allowing for seamless connectivity with almost all client hardware.
